Deville Cadillac Moels & History 1980
Aerodynamic alterations gave DeVilles a more streamlined profile this year. The new, traditional-style “isolated” grille was made up of narrow vertical bars, peaked forward at the center. A Cadillac script was on the side of the heavy upper header, New flush-mount quad rectangular headlamps stood above new amber-lensed horizontal parking/signal lamps. Matching cornering lamps consisted of a large rectangular lens over a small horizontal one: one followed the line of the headlamps, the other wrapped around in line with the signal lamps.
Wheel openings showed a squared-off, formal look. The rear roof pillar held a Cadillac “V” and crest, plus script nameplate. New wheel covers displayed Cadillac’s crest on a dark red background. DeVilles came in 21 body colors. Both DeVille and Brougham had a stiffer roof profile this year, with a sharpened crease line running the full length of the side. Decklids also had a higher profile, with beveled rear surface. The new roofline added two inches of legroom in the back seat.
Base engine was the 368 cu. in. (6.0-liter) carbureted V-8, with 5.7-liter diesel available. Standard features included
- a convex remote-control right-hand mirror
- simulated teak on instrument panel
- new dual-spot map lamps/courtesy lights.
Durand knit cloth upholstery came in six colors, with Renaissance velour inserts. Leather seating areas came in ten colors. Options included
- heated side mirrors (available with rear defogger)
- Astroroof
- self-sealing tires
- six radio choices
- advanced theft-deterrent system.
Coupe DeVille was also offered with a dramatic Cabriolet roof that featured a chrome crossover roof molding. That came in 15 colors of Elk Grain vinyl, with French seam surrounding the back window. DeVille’s D’Elegance had textured Venetian velour upholstery in any of four colors, plus Tampico carpeting, special door pull handles, and “DeVille d’Elegance” script on the glove compartment. The body held accent stripes and another nameplate. Opera lamps were standard on the coupe, three roof-mounted assist straps on the sedan.
