A New World Record For The Speed Of Movement On The Ground

Streamliner was able to accelerate to an average speed of 757 kilometers per hour.

In the USA, Bonneville Salt Lake has set a new world record for the speed of movement on land among cars equipped with a traditional piston internal combustion engine. The maximum speed shown by the Speed Demon streamliner was almost 775 kilometers per hour. However, the record recorded is the average of two races – 757 kilometers per hour.

The Speed Demon streamliner is powered by Chevrolet’s six-liter, twin-turbocharged HEMI V8. The unit produces 2,500 horsepower and is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Unlike most streamliners, in which the pilot is most often located in a cramped cockpit, the internal structure of the Speed Demon is a full-fledged canopy cockpit. In addition, the car is equipped with four wheels, which are placed on three axles. The front two wheels are located one behind the other.

In the next race on the salt lake, “Speed Demon” managed to overcome the speed of 757 kilometers per hour, thereby setting a new world record for movement on the ground. The previous record, set in 2018, was also held by the Speed Demon. Then the streamer was able to accelerate to 722 kilometers per hour.

In mid-July, a single-seat streamliner built in the form of a rocket was put up for sale at the American Bring a Trailer auction. You can buy a car that has set several world speed records for $ 19,000 (approximately 1,400,000 rubles at the current exchange rate).
