Mazda unveils carbon fiber versions of several models

The Carbon Edition differs in appearance and equipment.

Mazda has introduced the CX-5, CX-9 and Mazda6 special editions. They are collectively known as the Carbon Edition and will only be available in the North American market.

The Carbon Edition models feature a Polymetal Gray body, red leather interior, and black interior and exterior trim. In the announcement, the company paid special attention to blackened aluminum wheels, gloss black mirror housings, a mesh pattern in the interior, and red stitching of the seats. In addition to stylistic changes, the “carbon” cars have an extended set of standard equipment.

The list includes multimedia with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bose audio system, heated front seats. The Carbon Edition also includes a wide range of i-Activsense active security systems. Among them – monitoring of blind spots and cross-traffic in the rear, radar cruise control with a full stop function, and an autobraking system. There are no prices yet – they promise to name them closer to the start of sales.

Earlier, there were rumors that after the change of generations, the Mazda CX-5 crossover could get a new name. Presumably, the model will be renamed CX-50. The SUV will be built on a rear-wheel-drive Mazda6 platform, and the range of engines will include a three-liter gasoline unit and a 3.3-liter diesel engine.
