prestigious Series 62 convertible. One almost had to look for the nameplate to distinguish the Biarritz from other Cadillacs. Yet even if it had lost much of its former distinction, this remained a top-quality automobile characterized by such luxury touches as a premium interior lined with ostrich-grain leather. Production rose slightly, presumably in response to the reduced price, but the ’61 was hardly cause for excitement.

- the first pair of symbols changed to “61” to indicate 1961 model year
- the next symbol was a letter to indicate the model as listed below
- the next six numbers indicated the consecutive unit number beginning with 000001
- The serial number was located at the front of the lefthand frame side bar
- Motor serial numbers again matched and were found on the center lefthand side of the block above the oil pan
- The alphabetical code “C” identified the new Series 6300 short-deck sedan
