The traditional Brougham sedan was changed only in minor details. The Brougham’s 5.0 liter V-8 received a new electronic spark control system for 1988 as well as a numerically higher axle ratio. Additional improvements included
new three-point rear seat belts with integral shoulder belts
revised drip moldings
new light switch lens with ISO-light symbol
the availability of five new exterior and three new interior colors.
Previous options made standard for 1988 included
a 25.0 gallon fuel tank (in place of a 20.7 gallon unit)
tilt and telescope steering wheel
larger, puncture-sealing tires.
Two new valve option packages for the base Brougham were introduced for 1988. A new optional formal vinyl roof was offered with a revised backlight (rear window) angle, new llama grained vinyl top material, vinyl top colored drip molding, vinyl top material-covered center pillar applique (with opera lamp), rear door quarter window closeout trim and new backlight (rear window) garnish molding.
