2010 CHEVY CORVETTE GRAND SPORT BACKGROUND
Of course, the Grand Sport name has been applied to track-oriented and racing Corvettes since 1963, which raced in 24-hour endurance races and GTs in Europe, with great success. Fast forward to modern times. The 6th-gen (C6) Corvette, launched in 2005, was ready for an upgrade. Chevrolet had revived the hallowed Grand Sport name a few times so far, and applied it to the C6 starting with the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. The focus was not on all-out horsepower, but in handling. With 430 horses on tap already, they wanted to get that power to the ground in a way that drastically-reduced lap times for their track-oriented customers.

Chevy started with the base Corvette, already an excellent-handling car, then upgraded the suspension, brakes, enlarged the wheel/tire package, widened the rear body to accommodate the added tire size. An optional freer-flowing two-mode exhaust bumped horsepower by 6 and torque by 4 pound-feet. This bumped the output of its 430-horse 6.2-liter LS3 V8 to 436 hp. All 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sports replaced the Z51 Performance Suspension package with an even more aggressive setup, along with wider fenders, wider tires (18-inch fronts, 19-inch rears), and bigger brakes. The front facia, with its bigger openings, was borrowed from the Z06. Prices for all this goodness started at $54,770. The 2010 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport came in four trim levels (1LT, 2LT, 3LT and 4LT), and just four exterior colors. The interiors were treated to model-specific two-tone leather seats with Grand Sport logos embroidered into the headrests. And of course, those hashmarks on the front fender.
