Former Aston Martin Chairman Victor Gauntlett eloquently described the V8 as “a stylish thoroughbred, beautifully built, luxurious, fast, and immensely safe.” This iconic model came in various variants, with one of the most exclusive being the Volante convertible. The Volante made its debut in June 1978, responding to customer demands just a few months before Aston’s V8 received an upgrade to ‘Oscar India’ specification.

The Volante epitomized soft-top luxury, featuring a lined, power-operated hood that, when raised, provided the same solidity and refinement as the saloon version, complete with walnut embellishments. While its open-top design affected its top speed when the hood was down, the Volante still reached an impressive maximum speed of 150mph, ranking it among the world’s fastest convertibles. Chassis numbers for the V8 Volante and Vantage Volante ranged from ‘15001’ to ‘15849,’ totaling 849 cars.
