The Wartburg 311 Coupé was built from 1957-1965. From 1959 the bodies of the 311 Coupé were manufactured in Dresden. Until then, the Wartburg 311 convertible was built in Dresden, until production was discontinued in 1959. At that time, the coupé cost around 16,700 marks and was one of the most luxurious things a citizen of the Soviet Zone and later the GDR could buy. A total of exactly 5,487 of these Wartburg 311 Coupés are said to have been built. The maximum speed was given as approx. 125 km/h, with a weight of 1010 kg. To this day, the Wartburg 311 touring coupé is considered one of the most beautiful cars of its time.
