Cadillac Moels & History 1989
Cadillac for 1989 offered six car lines powered by V-8 engines. The Cimarron was not produced for 1989. New model highlights included longer and restyled de Ville and Fleetwood models, a more powerful Allanté and refinements in the Seville, Eldorado and Brougham. The Seville was now available in a limited edition Seville Touring Sedan (STS) form. This new model was equipped with a retuned European-feel suspension package for more precise steering control and a firmer feel of the road. The limited production Fleetwood Sixty Sedan had new front leather seats created by Italian designer Giorgelto Giugiaro that featured a split frame design with triple lumbar support. The Allanté received a substantial power boost to 200 horsepower that made it capable of 0-60 acceleration in less than 8.5 seconds. New comfort and convenience features available in 1989 included an express-down driver’s window, electrochromic inside rearview mirror, ElectriClear windshield and an oil life indicator.
Cadillac’s 4.5 liter digitally fuel-injected V-8 was the powerplant for the de Ville, Fleetwood, Seville, and Eldorado models. Cadillac claimed its cars, capable of 0-60 mph in less than 10 seconds, were the fastest domestically produced luxury cars available.
