Cadillac Fleetwood Models & History 1971
Fleetwood Sixty-Special: The Sixty-Special was now a one model line, including only the Brougham sedan. It came with standard extras like Automotive Level Control; adjustable reading lights; Two-Way power adjustment Dual Comfort front seat and a padded vinyl top. New exterior styling was seen along with several new trim features. The windows were cut nearly into the roof in semi-limousine fashion and had softly rounded corners. Vertically angled rectangular coach lamps were a common option incorporated into the rear roof pillar. A broad rocker panel trim plate, with rear extension, was used. The Fleetwood name was block lettered on the front fenders, behind the wheel opening and on the righthand side of the rear deck lid. The new window styling included a wide pillar separating the front and rear door glass.
Fleetwood Seventy-five: The long-wheelbase Fleetwoods came with everything found on deVilles (except front center arm rest in the limousine) plus Automatic Level Control; Automatic Climate Control; rear window defogger; four rear ash trays; and a manual righthand outside rear view mirror. Externally, they had the new Cadillac styling and window treatments similar to those described for the Sixty-Special. However, the rear roof pillar could be custom finished in several different ways, including triangular “coach” windows or vinyl covered “blind quarter” looks. Ornamentation included the traditional Fleetwood laurel wreath crests and lettering, plus thin horizontal belt moldings. However, no rocker sill strips, panels or extension moldings were used. And, of course, the limousine had the doors cut into the roof, special upholstery appointments and a driver’s partition with adjustable division window.
