1981 Honda Accord

The Honda Accord is likely the first car that comes to mind when people think of a Japanese mid-sized family sedan. For decades, it has been one of Honda’s top-selling models and one of the best in its class. However, the Accord’s origins were modest. Honda introduced it as a hatchback in 1976, and later as a compact sedan that was slightly larger than the Civic.

Honda designed the Accord as a more mature version of the Civic, with a slightly larger engine and more interior space and equipment. Despite this, it remained affordable and of undeniable quality. As car buyers embraced the new model, Honda quickly introduced larger and better versions, continuously refining it into the world-class sedan it is today.
