To further commemorate Corvette’s 25th anniversary, Chevrolet had negotiated with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to allow a modified Corvette to serve as the pace car for the 1978 running of the Indianapolis 500. The 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Indianapolis Pace Car is now one of the most popular late-model examples out there, when it comes to third-generation Corvettes.
