Its understated design, impressive performance, spacious interior, and comfortable ride, along with top-notch safety features, earned widespread acclaim. Car and Driver, in July 1977, hailed it as the epitome of Daimler-Benz’s design philosophy, labeling it the finest Mercedes-Benz ever sold.
