This particular 454 in the Chevelle put out 450 hp and 500 ft lbs of torque and was the highest rated mass produced and installed engine to ever come off the American assembly line up until that time. Now that horsepower is laughable compared to what is produced today. By comparison Pete, your 454 makes 290 hp and 410 ft lbs of torque. Total production estimates for convertibles range from 200 to about 500 depending on who you ask. I personally have around 36+ documented LS6 convertibles in my database with several more that cannot be guaranteed but are thought to be real. Once available for just under $5000 in 1970 they peaked somewhere around $500k around 2007 and are now down in the mid $200k range for excellent cars though some will bring more.
what kind of HP does the 454 pump out, I am curious as I have a 454 in my 1996 GMC Sierra truck .. thank you
LS6 factory rated @ 450 hp.
