Throughout the 1969 model sales year, a total of 72,127 standard Cougar models were built, with another 27,942 being the better appointed XR-7 model. Of those XR-7s, only 4,024 were convertibles. Rarer still, and to demonstrate just how extraordinary our feature car is, only 31 XR-7 convertibles were ordered with the Cobra Jet 428 engine and manual four-speed gearbox. Now that’s a rare muscle car.
