Mercury’s Comet was revitalized in 1968 by the introduction of a larger, newly-styled fastback coupe body. The new fastback was immediately popular, selling 6,105 copies, but the convertible was dropped from the lineup. The Cyclone GT option could still be ordered for an extra $168 over the $2,768 base price, adding bucket seats and a higher level of trim.
