1960 Edsel Ranger Convertible

1960 Edsel Ranger Convertible

One of the scarcest of all Edsels is the 1960 Ranger convertible, of which 76 were produced. It’s prized today, but interestingly, it’s also the most conventional of the breed. Facing a backlash against the Edselness of its Edsels, Ford instituted a hasty redesign for the 1960 model year, which would be the ill-fated marque’s last. Values for many postwar American cars have been relatively stable over the past few years, but looking back over the last decade, Edsel’s desirable halo car has appreciated significantly. Popular price guides currently list the ’60 Edsel Ranger convertible at an average price of $80,000, ranging from $38,000 on the low end to $96,000 on the high end. In 2006, guides listed the average at just $22,000, with $16,000 on the low side and $39,000 on the high end. These cars will continue trading on their good looks and rarity over the coming years, attracting buyers looking for something unusual and fun to own.
