1935 Bentley Derby 3.5 Litre

Bentley Motors Ltd. was founded in 1919 and produced high-quality cars, achieving success in motorsports, including victories at Le Mans. However, the company faced financial difficulties in 1931 and was liquidated.

Rolls Royce acquired the Bentley name and designed a new model, the Bentley 3.5 Litre, using their 18 h.p. chassis and a tuned-up version of their 20/25 h.p. engine. The design was successful, with 1,191 units produced between 1933 and 1937.

The cars were known as the “Derby Bentley” and were lighter, faster, and more reliable than their predecessors. Coachwork was bespoke, and most buyers opted to specify their own requirements.
