In 1928 Chrysler brought forth the standard for the American automotive industry. Their performance and innovation was spoken in the same room with Bentley or Mercedes when they sent a Model 72 to compete at Le Mans in 1928, finishing third and fourth overall, even beating the Bentley 4½-litre of Birkin and Chassagne. That year’s Mille Miglia proved similarly fruitful for the Model 72, seeing two cars finishing second and third in class respectively. Proven to be highly competitive in period, it is no surprise that these Chryslers are excellent entries in vintage racing, as this example has so proven.
